1 Kellogg-Briand Pact
Договор об отказе от войны как орудия национальной политики. Подписан 27 августа 1928 в Париже 15 государствами, в том числе США (позднее к нему присоединились еще 64 страны). Инициаторами пакта стали госсекретарь США Фрэнк Келлогг [ Kellogg, Frank Billings] и министр внешних сношений Франции Аристид Бриан. 6 Borah, William Edgar
(1865-1940) Бора, Уильям ЭдгарПолитический деятель, юрист, сенатор США от штата Айдахо (с 1907). Вскоре после избрания стал общенациональной фигурой, выступив за осуждение лидеров радикальной Федерации рудокопов Запада [ Western Federation of Miners], обвиненных в убийстве губернатора Айдахо. Был известен своей независимостью по многим вопросам, за что получил прозвище "Великий оппозиционер" [Great Opposer]. В ходе продолжительной карьеры в Сенате [ Senate, U.S.] был председателем нескольких комитетов, в том числе по иностранным делам [Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs; Foreign Relations Committee] в 1924-33. Выступал за разоружение, принятие пакта Бриана-Келлогга [ Kellogg-Briand Pact], был инициатором созыва Вашингтонской конференции [ Washington Conference], одним из первых сторонников дипломатического признания Советского Союза. Во внутренней политике активно выступал в поддержку сухого закона [ Prohibition], против антимонопольного законодательства [ antitrust laws] и многих мер "Нового курса" [ New Deal].
